an event from shelley's first tv job epitomizes her initiative and work ethic. when she pitched a documentary about louisiana's notorious angola state penitentiary, the news director doubted that a novice would be able to do such a project. he finally ok'd it on the condition that shelley produce, write and edit the program solo on nights and weekends. the result won the station's first-ever award -- a UPI for BEST DOCUMENTARY -- cited by the judges as "impressive, especially considering the single-handed nature of the production."
that prize was the first of many. shelley later collected multiple EMMYs, GOLDEN MIKEs, GRACIEs, MURROWs and other top tv journalism honors. [see "awards" page for a complete listing.]
angela's belief in the power of real people and real stories paid off when her film treatment -- LITTLE GIRL LOST -- was greenlighted by ABC-TV. based on actual events she uncovered, shelley co-produced the powerful network drama which landed in the nielsen top-ten. she later optioned film rights to several other true stories -- taking one to CBS's 60 MINUTES as consulting producer.
additional producer / writer credits include NBC's daytime show -- REAL LIFE and primetime series and specials -- ABC's PSYCHIC DETECTIVES, CBS's iWON.COM, A&E's BIOGRAPHY, LIFETIME's INTIMATE PORTRAIT, RIVALS on DISCOVERY and TOP SECRET MISSIONS OF THE C.I.A. on the HISTORY CHANNEL.
her sweeps series -- CHILD WHO NEEDS A CHANCE -- was critically acclaimed at CBS O&O's in los angeles and chicago. she produced for twelve straight seasons on the newsmagazine show called "the west coast's version of 60 MINUTES" -- CALIFORNIA CONNECTED and SOCAL CONNECTED on PBS stations in the golden state. shelley's memorable stories, docs and mini-docs won many of the awards given to both programs.
her association with FOX-TV includes producing duties on the landmark show AMERICA'S MOST WANTED and as both a producer and national correspondent on PERSONALITIES WITH CHARLIE ROSE. she produced and reported for GROUP W's daily hollywood news service -- THE ENTERTAINMENT REPORT. she was chosen by the recording academy to interview top music artists during rehearsals and backstage on "day-of-air" at the GRAMMY AWARDS on CBS. shelley also produced for several clients at the glamorous -- but grueling -- CANNES FILM FESTIVAL.
other credits include featurettes for SONY and COLUMBIA PICTURES, video news releases, tribute and sizzle reels, interviews and C.E.O. profiles for corporate clients; plus a series of interstitials for the DISCOVERY CHANNEL. shelley's marketing video for PIONEER ELECTRONICS won the prestigious SILVER CINDY AWARD for BEST PROMO VIDEO.
angela's experience as a tv news reporter includes stints at KATC, lafayette, louisiana, WBNS, columbus, ohio, KSTP, minneapolis and stations KTTV, KCOP and KCBS in los angeles; also a sweeps producer at WBBM-TV in chicago. in her spare time, shelley is determined to learn how to rollerblade backwards.
